excerpt from Heaven and Hell by Aldous Huxley

The Antipodes Project is a collaborative art project started by Ben Tolman in 2006.

It is an ongoing, evolving project dedicated to exploring the antipodes of our collective mind.

The Mind's Antipodes:
Aldous Huxley introduced the term "antipodes of the mind" in reference to the strange inner world revealed to him under the effects of mescalin, which were at the time largely unknown. Each artist finds their own method of accessing the minds everchanging inner world. This project will combine the efforts of dozens of artists over several years into vast collective inner landscapes of unprecedented detail and imagination.

Joining:
This project is mostly by invitation, but talented imaginative artists interested in participating should send a email with a link to your portfolio to: bentolman1@gmail.com.

Media:
Black micron ink pens and 11"x14" sheets of strathmore vellum bristol.

Instructions to Artists:
Artists can start a new panel or continue work on an existing panel. The panel and pens will be sent to the artist in the mail. As the project is being developed it will be divided into panels, and projects. Panels are individual sheets that are not yet connected to others. Projects are multiple panels that have been joined in to a single image. Artists can do as much or as little as they wish. You can contribute just once or as often as you like. Panels should never be fully completed by one artist. Spaces should be left open for added creativity and so the panels can be joined seamlessly.
